Stockholm Day One

We knew, even before we landed, that this was going to be an exceptionally beautiful day in Stockholm We could see, as the plane approached Arlanda, every island, lake, birch tree and stuga. Babs was right," On a clear day you can see forever!" The day was so gorgeous that I could not bring myself to enter a single dusty dark second hand store but instead enjoyed strolling through Sweden's beautiful Capital city with Peter. This weekend is the celebration of Sweden's National Day (Something like our 4th of July) There are many events scheduled and today we enjoyed wandering the tents of "A Taste of Sweden". There was an ongoing live cooking demonstartion by well known chefs, assorted wine tastings, a kids cooking class on Salmon Burgers, and free tap water offered by the City's Water Supplier. (hmmm-do you think WSSC would consider doing this at events?) We dined at our favorite restaurant in Ostermalm, Grodan (Red Frog) and then finished the evening with a glass of wine in Old Town. Enjoy the photos -The woman pictured with the giant candy bar is someone after my own heart...I watched her win the equivalent of 15 Marabou chocolate bars and then quickly move to the champagne bar for a little bubbly! It was a day to celebrate! Tomorrow I visit my favorite outdoor flea market in Stockholm, Hortorget. Watch for a new blog and photos.
