Steig Larssons Stockholm

Scandinavian Writers are getting lots of press these days, especially Stieg Larsson and his Millenium trilogy. Last month, February 14 to be exact, the Washington Post ran an article entitled, "Stockholm, where the Millenium Trilogy comes to Life." The writer had gone on an escorted tour of Mikael Blomqvist's(the lead character of the novels) favorite spots. If you're planning a trip to Stockholm this year (lucky you!) be sure to stop in the City Museum located in Soldermalm. It is there that you can purchase a map that will provide a self guided "Millenium" tour. The museum is a great spot...even if you aren't interested in the tour. I must admit that this January was my first visit to the city museum and I only went because I read an article that it had one of the best gift shops in Stockholm-and it did! The museum offers a glimpse into the history of everyday life in Stockholm. I found it quite enjoyable and a good way to spend an hour or so out of the cold!If you don't want to tour the museum definitely stop by their shop-they offer some unusual Swedish made gift items-things I had never seen before despite my 20 plus trips to this fabulous city!
