The Road to Kalmar

Peter and I left Stockholm and headed south to Kalmar in the Kingdom of Glass. Before leaving Solna, Peter took 3 boxes of purchases and about 8 pieces of art to our packer while I went downtown to meet the vendor who supplies me with the dala horse zipper pulls. We met up at 11:00 and hit the road! It should have taken us 5 hours but I found an antique shop listed in a guide and thought it would be fun to pop in and have a look. It took us 45 minutes out of our way (thanks to poor directions from a gas station attendant) and when we arrived we discovered an elderly Russian gentleman who had one sorry little group of tea pots! The only thing worthwhile was this darling chicken sign and a damaged wooden dala horse (also primitive in nature) that I bought for 1/2 price. So...thanks to that stop and an ice cream stop....and a lunch stop... and a potty break..and stopping for a yard sale...we arrived to our darling hotel at 7:00pm.....about 2.5 hours later than anticipated! We had a quick dinner then walked to the castle which, as you can see, is pretty magnificant and must have been quite impressive to the Vasa Kings who came upon it in the 16th century.
